Yuexiu Park where Dr Sun Yet Sen memorial hall located is a very big and hilly park to visit, after Dr Sun Yet Sen memorial hall, if you know th park short cut route you can walk to the 2nd attraction Dr Sun Yet Sen pillar.

it is foc to visit Yuexiu park now, ust in 2009 you pay an entrance fees to enter the vast huge park...

the beauty of the park are all the tall shady trees where a visitors could practically walk under the shade even in sunny day..

after walking an hour reaching the first top level of the hill. 2 of my frens already too tire to continue...

if you wanted to cover all the attractions in the park you must have active lifestyle otherwise impossible do it just visit one attraction the Five Rams Statue on the top...

Day two, 27/11/2011, after a scrumptious dim sum n Wong Tai Sin temple visit, our next sightseeing attraction Dr Sun Yet Sen memorial hall.

my first visit was in 1985 it was just only the memorial hall inside the hall there even stalls selling souvenirs etc.. last visited in 2009 there is a fees..

now it is foc, now but why the ticket booth still standing ask the staff YES it is free now...

the museum on the left side of the hall again it is FOC, here you get to read and see photos of the history of Dr Sun Yet Sen etc..greeting visitors is this golden statue of Dr Sun.

for those who are truly interested in the history on how Dr Sun over throw ending the the monarch dynasty system in China, you need to spend hours here walking the display 2nd floor hall..

after spending an estimate of an hour, we end our tour of this Wong Tai Sin Temple inFangcun, Guangzhou n continue our next sightseeing ...

it is one way in and another way out through the Bonsai, water fall garden where there are 2 Wishing Trees for those who wanted to throw up their wishes to hang in one of the branches..

if your wishes get hang up at the first throw that mean 100% good, 2nd throw mean 75% your wish will be granted and the 3rd throw only 50% chances for you to get your wish..

Wong Tai Sin failed to trun the white stone into a goat...the white stone still standing tall...

there re about more than 50 bonsai here in the garden, some are award winners..

After breafast on the 27/11, we just walking across the road to the famous Wong Tai Sin Temple in Guangzhou, the Hong Kong Wong Tai Sin temple is a branch originated from this temple.

entrance fees posted just outside the temple ticket office...

if you are staying at Flower Hotel you can walk to the temple, you can't get lost after getting some direction from the hotel staff, the road leading to the temple are shops selling pryer items a-z...plus all the Feng Shui n face n plam reading etc stalls...

Get What You want, I pray to touch the Toto Jackpot, 4D....

after praying hang your lists on the tripod....or throw it up on the tree behind the temple, normally for ladies asking for marriage etc...

If you wanted to come to restaurant it is so easy becuase next to the restaurant is the famous popular Wony Tai Sin temple, all the taxi driver know this place, you can miss it this the only restaurant here.

this a 400 years old building but the 5 star restaurant only ove a year old it is new wine in an old bottle..

all the vip rooms located at thios floor, there are 10 such rooms..

our room 209 and outside the ground there is a nice garden..

Hahaha early bird get the worms..doing my early morning walking exercise , i come acroos this wantan noodle shop near the hotel.

after checking out and knowing there a are few outlets in Gunahgzhou, therefore must be very good..

I am not dissapointed at all, it is the best so far and beat our best wantan noodle shop in K.L.

establish since 1979, there are also other menu including beef noodle...etc. my David decided to try out the next morning beef noodle and he claim BEST.

The walking streets in China major cities does not permit any street vendors, but there are exception if the street vendor selling very traditional snacks etc, this is the only street vendor we saw, dress the the old traditonal costumes selling dry dates..

many local interested to buy some to taste after all you cna't to get this kind of dry date....

at night one of the side lane was coverted into a foods lane, there are hundred of various food stalls...

wait pedestrain street no car allow... but this is the only car..the drive must be from Malaysia lost his way.. wrong entry..
he will be stop and with his car lock in police station...

from Liwan bay it took us 45 minutes slow walk to the famous Shangxia jiu pedestrain street a shopping heaven for shoppers..it is People Mountain People Sea, like people having a celebration ...

Shangxiajiu consist of the older section and the new modern section, the older sections goods are minly local products whereas the new include imported goods etc..

the older sections shops are smaller but there many restaurants selling local delicacies foods....

the new section buildings are modern except some old old restaurants..

this Lian Xi Lou restaurant 122 years (1889) famous for its biscuits and foods..we ended have one of our lunch here a few days later.

after steam wok fish dinner 26/11, we went for the beautiful night scene of the famous Liwan bay, beside the lights etc you can experience trying out some of the local delicacies snacks that are only available in Guangzhou.

The museum close by night , this museum will display all the history and artifacts of Liwan the once famous rich people live here...

For dinner on the 26/11 , my nephew took us to a street where all the restaurant are famous for certain type foods and cooking etc,

our dinner at the famous wok fish where customer can select and choose many varieties of fishes to be cook in the wok...swimming fish are the most fresh,

it is like order and cook right in front of you, all the fish fresh are taken out to make into dumpling, fish cakes etc, they are not ready make at all.

next door another restaurant speciality in fish and lamp...

all restaurant shere in this street are selling foods that different from each other, mostly traditonal foods love by the locals, tourists unless a lcoal fren take you there you never get the chance to eat here..

another selling roasted pigeon only, a big psoted showing various style and method to eat roasted pigeon to preserve the taste roasred pigeon must be eaten as whole without cutting it up into half...anothe restaruant speciality in free run chicken and fishes..

this fish wok dinner we are consider the best and most healthy meal for dinner and truly give us the energy to walk latr from Liwan to sanjiuliu walking street..after dinner.

while waiting for the steam wok fish to be cook, we order the restaurant famous Da Pau,

Hmmm David say it is very good< but eat half to reserve his stomach for the wok fish and other side dishes..

The fried fish cake is better than the Thai restaurant type of fish cake, i take 2 pieces...

the yong tau foo very good as the vegetables use so fresh..

finally we all enjoy this steam wok of fresh fish with chinese herbs as the soup..

My favourite U Char Kooi man at work at his stall, he keep all his utensils clean, table top clean and uses 10 kgs of fresh new oil for each wok every morning...using traditional old recipe..

daughter and wife at the stall to help.. my daughter u char kooi, buns etc the Best here...one bite you come again for it..

Steady flow of customers will comeand buy open by 0700 hrs most likely finish sold out by 1030 hrs...

There are 3 such hawker stalls in OUG morning market but this is the best one , clean the best part it is using 10 kgs of new oil to fry all the U char kooi ( fry bread stick) when the color light golden that mean using new oil not recycle oil ( re use and reuse many time over)

traditional recipe, good fresh oil every day as such it is aromatic and crispy..best to dip into black coffee, eat with porridge or with our local famous bak kut teh.

This restaurant Mandarin name in English " 100 years Road Penang" it is selling all those Penang famous foods..use to passed by and notice the crowd there..

decided to try out last Sunday the mneu quite a great varities of dishes to choose, I settle for this Nyona rice nasi lemak

that come with the usual curry rendang chicken, sambal but with a piece of the Penang famous lobak ( fried sauges)

and with inredient vege similar like those use in popia...taste nothing special or to shout about just normal to me, won't try this any more..

Annie order the eve popular nasi lemak, some how it is the same curry rendang chicken not fried???

according to Annie she was disappointed with the poor quality of the fried peanuts and the lowest grade of ikan billis ( anchovies )

Well if we want to eat nasi lemak the best is still buying from our local morning stall, starting from Rm4.50 just add a few more igredients like fried chicken, cockles, curry potatos, sotong etc your price doesn't go beyond RM10. but the tastefar much better.

Kim Fah tea House in English, Kim Fah bakery in Mandarin this is the famous bakery in Raub town only known to the local unless someone tell you about this shop that sell a few varieties of good tasty bake biscuits and black coffee.

Curry chicken puff very delicious due to it is using the Indian curry, it is any time better than some of the K.L. famous branded bakery, the price only RM1.30 per piece but in K.L. the price start from RM1.70-RM2.20 piece.

Char siew sho one of favourite dim sum restaurants but this one taste the best and beat all other bakery plus the price so cheap RM1.30 also, at dim sum restaurant Rm3 above and k.L. bakeries sella t RM1.90-RM2.30...

Kaya puff and egg tart both also sellingat RM1.30 per piece but no more stomach to taste it so buy all varieties back home for wife and grandchildren and they calim very good, next to have again next day..Hahaha..

The tray all those biscuits snacks straight from the oven redy for customers...most of the locals come here for cups and some of those lovery tasty...maybe outstation guys like us who know this place..

International VSOP Day 1.10.11 four junior tea enthusiast decided to give a Bak Kut Teh lunch to 2 VSOP ( very senoir old people) at the Sungei way new village. looking for the bak kut teh house not so easy as the village roads are narrow all way road now.

it is driving down memory lane looking out for the bak kut teh, first round missed it, so need to call for the direction from early bird who already there..there is no name at all, and there are a few houses also selling bak kut teh...

Our tea drinking and lunch on 25th September at Hakka bao Bao Xiang USJ 9, Subang Jaya.

Yam 3 layers pork with thick gravy, this dish I consider good as the 3 layers pork use was not fatty but 90% meat..the gravy just nice..

One plate of bitter gourd fried with salted egg taste good succulent n not bitter at all, in fact bitter gourd is one of my most favourite vege..

Yam abacus it is call because the shape like the seats of abacus.. this is another popular hakka dish.

Pork ( fah lam) in clay pot good for eating together with rice similar witht he yam pork..

Freid pork with black fungus, well comapring with my mother cooking I still prefer my mother receipe which currently my wife know how to cook this dish...

The young boss taste our puer tea and she say it is good...

Well she give us n extra FOC special tau foo in egg, this a a very tasty dish it is the restaurant own creation...

I am sure we have good lunch and puer tea drinking at this hakka restaurant,,,sure like to come back again to try out other dishes.

This the hakka LUI CHA which purely a vegetarian dish with peanuts n fice other type of vegetables mix with rice and then pour the special vege herb soup ( not many people like the taste n aroma of this soup) so our party did not order this dish to share.

For those we did not want to order laa carte from the menu, can go for theset menu for 2-6 persons...

Qian Li Xiang Bah Kut Teh

My original intention was to try out a newly open Bak Kut Teh shop just behind this one that include clay pot fish head... but due to just one row behind it ddn't last..so ended in this Qian Li Xiang bak kut teh..

this a dry bak kut teh in clay pot without the soup but in thick gravy...

This clay pot of mix pork meats( 3 layer, pork stomach, pork ribs and bean curd)..

This bowl fried Yau Cha keoy it is very tasty when dip into the bak kut teh soup but very bad for health.. I never eat this not even one piece but somehow my good frens just love it... maybe they think once in blue moon it is OK some more they are all drinking puer tea..to detox..

Therefore for a bak kut teh lunch, to ensure my frens by drinking the best puer tea atleast it could help them to detox all those yau Chay Keoy which are all fried in the same wok of oil ( that are use many times over and over again)

I make sure extra puer tea inside the pot so that it it thick and strong for them after all the oily foods and soup high in cholesterol.

Beggar Kitchen

The restaurant owner tractor excavator diging for the the right of clay that can be use to cover int ready chicken, duck, pig trotter , rice or other other ingredients use for the beggar cooking method which could include seafoods etc.

The machine use grinding the clay into soft clay similar to those use for making ceramic pottery etc..the ready fine smooth clay use for covering up the foods wrap by alumimium foil.

Firewood and other wooden boxes are use for starting the fire in the kitchen...

The food wrap all inside in the alumimium foil the outer layer cover by clay, all place on top of the brick oven with the hot ashes of the burning firewoods are place on top cover all the food wrap in caly for hours..

The clay break up into pices revealing on the alumimium wraping and serve to the the customer on table.

In this Beggar restaurant beside the 4 dishes chicken, duck, pig rotter and rice cookec in beggar method bake over fire etc..cover with clay,
there are 5 other dishes cookec in the normal restaurant cooking method.. Shark fin soup...

Prawns fried with heavy thick sauce...

vegetables ...

Steam fish Thai style...

The beggar rice was to go together with all the dishes, but since all stomach full , so it is pack to take home . don't waste it.

This pig stomach in heavy pepper soup very hot but good for digestion etc...

2 plate of fruits was included in this menu set...next posting will be on the making of beggar foods..

Beggar's Trotter & Duck

Beggar Trotter is the other beggar foods included in the menu for a table of 10 but dishses are big portion can entertain up to 12 persons.

Beggar trotter cook in the same method wrap in aluminium foil the cover up with clay before BBBQ over fire...

Pig trotter with yam....mushroom...

Beggar duck using the Chinese herbs only the taste slightly different from beggar chicken due it is more of duck taste...

Well all the 3 beggar meat disches gone only left the beggar rice to go with the other non beggar dishes...

In search of beggar's foods we ended up in a palm oil plantation located jut outside IJOK at small town in Kuala Selangor on 3rd Septemeber 2011.

Turning into a small plantation road just about 1 km we arrive at the Beggar Village restaurant..

There are two main dinning area that can accomodate up to 50 tables... this beggar's foods was make famous due to an ealrier by election before the 308 tsunami Genearl Election 2008 where opposition finally wrestle the state control from ruling BN.

Beggar Chicken and Beggar rice was the first 2 beggar foods to arrive at our table..all wrap up in aluminum foil. the outer was all clay cook over fire slowly...

By right the restaurant should let the customer using a hammer supply to break up the clay as this is what normally done in restaurants in Hong Kong the tourists get the thrills of breaking the clay...

The chicken meat soft and easily tear up with a spoon, the herbal aroma very strong and the soup delicious ..

Sotong Kangkung

This is a very popular local dish in the 1960's t0 1980's at P.J. old town night market near the Kee Hup bus station..it was my favourite never fail to eat it a few times per week. In additon the stall that sell this Sotong Kangkung usually sell boil cockles as well, the cockles just dip into hot boiling water for a few minutes, drain the water place all in one plate then open te shell n dip it in chilli sacue etc same like the sotong n kangkung.

however at this hari raya open buffet lunch nobody touch thisa wonderful delicious dish becuase it is not serve in the correct maner as it should be. The Sotong and kangkung all already pre boil and place in the container.. this is totally wrong the dish will become non delicous at all when it is cold.

There should be a waiter preparing the dish first by boiling the sotong in a pot of hot boiling water similar like serving noodle soup etc, after palcing the ready sotong then do the same for the kangkung, place it in the same plate.
Guests could add in the 2 type sauce then it eat while it is still hot...

there are ketupat n lenang for you to choose to go with the chicken rendang, i prefer the lenang rice inside bamboobbq over fire with santan., steam ketuapt not so tasty as comapre to lenang.

Suddenly motor bike stop beside her car the pallion rider smash the window within second gone her coach hand bag, ic, passport (just going to apply visas to Indonesia Jarkarta). office keys, cash RM800 and credit cards.

She wanted to reserve out to chase but couldn't due to another car beside her car, by right the front car in front of the trafice light can chase and knock down the bike, a few cases happen where the Mbike snatcher was knock down by victim car.

A lesson learn don't place hand bag or any value items on the passenger seat, put it under the seat, stop your near the next car where there is not siffcient space for any bike to come near your car side window on the left. Most important be alert alert when driving alone at night or any time day time see any bikers following behind....

Moon Cakes Festivals Dinner

Our family celebrate Moon Cakes Fetivals on the 13th day 8th Month of lunar calendar instead on the 15th day as practice by our grand parent. The dishes are simply all cooked in the traditional village method.

This is free run chicken ( kampong chicken) boil with lotus roots and when eating dip with soya sauce mix with fried garlic...

Soya sauce mixed with fried garlic, just add the amount you wanted..

we use the raw lettuce to wrap the bbq pork it taste so good...

10.o9.2011 Saturday attended Sime Darby company Hari ray open house buffet lunch at convention centre K.L.

Starting form 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs espected a few thousand invited guests therefore to avoid the crowded time of 1130 hrs decided to reached there by 1030 hrs, get a table (10 seats) and together with my daughter family of 4 persons.

Long time didn't eat this Mutton bone curry , well any foods long time did not eat sure feel good when eating again, knowing there so many other local dishes as such just 2 pieces of mutton bone ( T bone)

Next when to tackle our famopus satay BBQ chicken only as I don't eat beef satay..

I only makan 5 sticks only as need to leave enough stomach space for ther dishes.. otherwise those good old days I can finish 30 sticks lah..

satay gravy with plenty peanuts chunk and off don't forget the timur ( cucumber) rare onion and the kutupat ( rice dumpling)

We never fail to bring our puer tea or other teaand all the tea pots, cups.pitcher, filter etc to any restaurants when going there for our meals.This time at Wai Kei Souchang from mt WuYi was one of heavy fire tea beside 2 other type of ripe puer tea for drinking.

Our tea brewing master David Ng was busy preparing and brewing this Souchang a tea similar to Da Hong Bao n Dancong, the taste thicnk and strong remain for long time in your mouth.

this souchang so taste so strong n linger for long in your mouth, that it should be the last tea o brew and drink if you are going to brew and drink a few other puer tea. By drinking this first, all other puer tea become more or less tasteless..Hahaha we learn a lesson.

My tea drinking group fren Siew Lim went to go Seremban town yesterday and bought back 2 type of moon cakes ( nuts n seeds, jelly cakes) for our group.

According to my wife it is not sweet like the other mon cakes and the ingredeintuts was plenty. taste lovely...

As diabetic I haven't eaten moon cakes for years... 15 yrs or more, but this one nuts moon cakes my wife aloow me to taste one piece as it is not sweet. Just just one piece only for me...

If you don't like the hot chilly pan mee, you can just pour the bowl of hot vege soup into the bowl.

Then you stirr and mixed it all up, you get a plain bowl soup vege pan mee, so simply.

However you also change into hot chiily pan mee soup by just a teh chiily paste etc n mix it again. It is like one dish you can try to different taste, firs the palin soup than the hot chilly soup pan mee.

Your pan mee noodle with 4 main ingredients, noodle underneath the bowl, on top half cook egg, loose mince meat, anchovies(ikan billis)

add one to spoon of fried chilly paste if like hot hote hot add few spoon, better you mixed and with one spoon chilly first.

After mixing you can proceed to enjoy the hot chilly pan mee noodle..

Our group enjoy the lunch here very much, as the cooking are those typical villages cooking and earlier entering the jungle road one way give any new comer that they are heading to no way.....

Mr Sin the owner take alot of patient n gut to built this restaurant deep inside the valley, it is now a very popular week day weekend retreat for city folks who are sick of the modern air condition restaurant in the city.

Our party plan to come back again to ward the end of the year to try other dishes... by that time the huts n main dinning hall building will be surrounded by water with plenty of fishes swimming...

Valley Resort Raub

The second entrance of the valley resort to the main dinning hall that could accommodate up 500 guests.

The owner Mr Sin told us he just drain the pool where the restaurant was standing above to clean up before refill with water and fishes again.

Once fill with water n plenty of fishes the look will better and more beautiful including more cooling etc.

Those who are interested cn stay overnight in one of the wooden chalet over looking the pool, no air condition as it is very cooling at night in the valley.

The group of drinkers drink so quickly that both David n me have difficulty to brew fast enough, luckily i bring the ceramic tea pot that hold 2 zhu nee tea pot brews n fill up 8 cups at one go.

Foods only arrived half an hour later but i think each person already finish 4-6 cups...sure they enjoy the taste n aroma...

In this hut there is one long table and other smaller one like this just handy for us to brew tea etc.
